Does insurance cover laser hair removal treatments?
Since hair removal is viewed as cosmetic procedure, laser hair removal is not often covered by insurance companies. There are some circumstances, however, when a private insurance company may reimburse clients for their laser hair removal costs.
Are laser hair removal treatments tax deductible as a medical expense?
Unless your laser hair removal treatment is prescribed by a doctor as a hormonal or genetic condition treatment, it will not be tax deductible. We recommend you check with the IRS or your accountant prior to scheduling a laser hair removal appointment.
Does hair grow back after laser hair treatment?
When we perform laser hair removal services, all active follicles at the time of treatment will be eliminated. However, our bodies are constantly creating new hair follicles, meaning we cannot eliminate the future growth of said follicles. Simply put, if you have hair in the treatment area prior to laser hair removal, it will be gone and will not return once you leave Premiere Laser Centre.
How many treatments do I need to notice results?
Some people are completely satisfied with their skin after one treatment, while others ask for one or more follow-up appointments. Depending on a person’s consultation and a thorough evaluation of their hair, a removal plan will be explained.
Is everyone a candidate for laser hair removal?
Many people can successfully have unwanted body hair removed via laser hair removal. Most individuals from any race, color, or hair type can utilize laser hair removal, but if you wish to ensure that we can help you, please contact our office.
What is the Candela GentleLASE Plus System?
The Candela GentleLASE Plus System is a state-of-the-art light therapy option designed to eliminate unwanted body hair. It is a non-invasive technique that uses highly intensive beams of light to kill hair roots without damaging the surrounding skin tissue. It is quick, effective, gentle, and a completely safe hair removal method.
Can the Candela GentleLASE Plus System remove hair from anywhere on a person’s body?
Those who wish to remove hair using GentleLASE Plus System can safely eliminate unwanted hair from any part of their body. Women frequently use laser hair removal to permanently remove hair that is on their underarms, above their upper lip, on their legs, on their bikini line, and around their eyebrows, while men frequently request to have beard hair, shoulder hair, and back hair removed via laser.
Are there steps that can be taken to maximize the results of each treatment session?
Yes, there are several things a person can do to maximize the effectiveness of each laser hair removal treatment. Our technicians at Premiere Laser Centre can give clients a list of recommendations as to what should and should not be avoided prior to and after laser hair removal sessions. Such recommendations include avoiding tanning, waxing, and/or tweezing, since the laser works by seeking out and destroying actively growing hair roots. Shaving and bleaching do not damage existing hair follicles, however, so a person may continue to partake in such activities prior to having their hair removed.
Who benefits the most from laser hair removal services?
Since we at Premiere Laser Centre use the Candela GentleLASE system, most clients can be successfully treated regardless of their skin type and hair color. Even women who are pregnant can have hair safely removed via a laser. White, gray, and naturally blonde hair cannot be successfully removed, however, so it may be beneficial for those who suspect they will go gray to perform laser hair removal treatment prior to their hair turning gray.
Can you still help me if I have had electrolysis or other laser treatments in the past?
We have helped many clients who have not had the ability to withstand painful electrolysis, as well as those who have not had positive results with other types of laser systems.
Will freckles, moles, or tattoos be damaged if they are in the treatment area?
Our technicians have the ability to adjust the laser intensity for areas that have moles and/or freckles. Areas with tattoos can not be treated due to the ink, please visit us before getting that tattoo! Since permanent eyebrows and lip liner are considered tattoos, please inform us of said items so we can adjust the lasers near those areas.
What is normal after laser hair removal treatments?
Many clients experience redness after laser hair removal treatments, which is absolutely normal. Redness usually fades before a client even returns home, but it is normal to experience redness for anywhere between one and 48 hours after treatment. Dryness may also occur in the treated area.
Should I avoid any activities after receiving laser hair removal?
We recommend that clients do not take a hot bath or shower for the first day after treatment, as well as avoid activity that may cause sweating. When the skin is not overheated by hot water or exercise, the best results and minimal irritation can occur.
Are there any laser hair removal risks?
The lights our lasers use are non-carcinogenic. The only issues that may arise after receiving laser hair removal is redness or local swelling, which generally does not persist for longer than an hour after the treatment. Occasionally clients may experience darkling of pigment in the treated area (Hyper-pigmentation). If this does occur, it is usually resolved within a matter of months.
Why choose laser hair removal? Why not choose electrolysis?
Laser hair systems treat larger areas of skin with much less pain and discomfort than other hair removal methods, including tweezing and waxing. Laser hair removal is also faster than other methods and produces much longer-lasting results. Electrolysis is an incredibly painful and time-consuming hair removal process that is often less-effective than laser hair removal. It requires hundreds of hours of treatment, and only then it removes about 15-50% of hair.
Is it necessary to have a test area prior to treatment?
Since every individual’s skin is different, we recommend that people have a small area of their body tested with laser hair removal prior to starting the full hair removal session. It is important for the technician to test small areas to determine which laser energy level is beneficial for each client. Those who have lighter skin will see immediate results, while those who have darker skin tones may have to wait a week to ensure that you are satisfied will your results.
What is considered unwanted female facial hair?
Millions of women in America consider any type of facial hair a problem that they need to deal with on a weekly basis. Women who have dark, thick, longer, and/or coarse facial hair may wish to partake in laser hair removal treatments.
What should I consider prior to scheduling a laser hair removal appointment?
- Does your unwanted hair interfere with your business, social, and/or romantic life?
- Would permanent hair removal increase your self-esteem and confidence?
- How important it is for you to eliminate temporary hair-removing methods?
- Save time, how much time do you usually spend tweezing and shaving each day or week.
What hair colors benefit most from laser hair removal treatments?
Dark hair gets the quickest results from laser hair removal treatments because the lasers are specifically designed to target color pigmentation in the hair follicles’ roots. Since dark hair has more color pigment, treatment is absorbed faster, which means individuals with darker hair see greater results. Lasers can not eliminate white, gray & blond, and certain red shades of hair. Get your treatments before your color starts to change.
What does hypertrichosis and hirsutism mean?
Hypertrichosis is when a person has excessive hair growth in areas other than their face, neck, chest, and thighs. It is often referred to as “werewolf syndrome” and can either be congenital, which means it is present at birth, or develop later in a person’s life. Hirsutism is excessive hair growth (usually in women, although men can have hirsutism) in areas that do not usually have hair, such as their face, neck, or chest.
